Burt Munro's Indian Runs!
Просмотров 154 тыс.11 лет назад
Burt Munro's speed record setting "World's Fastest Indian" motorcycle is started up for the crowd at the 2013 New York Motorcycle Show by Indian Motorcycle. It's the real deal! This article, written in 2010, gives a little information about the history of this particular motorcycle: www.motorcycleclassics.com/black-side-down/munro-special-at-pebble-beach.aspx

A replica of Burt Munro's Indian fact the original reside at E hays & Sons Invercargill New Zealand fact
So much blow by needing to be burned on such a build I'm sure. Beautiful. Those pipes should definitely did the job
Looks like a Hollywood bicycle replica to me.
I'm going to set the record straight once and for all. The Pierce family out of Alhambra, California took in Burt when he came to California, and after his last visit , gave the family the ORIGINAL bike in 1971. The bike was just a novelty , and eventually sat outside in the elements until well known Motorcycle Racer Dean Hensley bought it in 1986. After Dean's passing , his bother Tom Hensley and the rest of his family inherited it, and fully restored it. This is it in a nutshell. I'll gladly debate anyone that wants to challenge this.
Munro was the prototype for Britten
Sounds so sweet love it
May the gods of speed Cary him with no end insight just him and his bike and the sun on his back and forever going faster and faster
Give it to new Zealand
This is what Heaven sounds like... Its music to your ears!!!
I think that thing has very aggressive cams inside it and runs like shit until you get on it Definitely sounds like something that likes to be ran wide open throttle what a amazing Engineer
YOU THE MAN BERTY "KIWIS CAN FLY" One Proud Kiwi Right Here 💯❤️🤙🏽🤙🏽
Always, Difficult to believe what we see. So many try to gain some sort of advantage by saying they have an Original ?? Only later finding out many years later that it was only 50% True ???? People can sometimes have vivid imaginations when it comes to telling a Good Story. ( the saying - Never Let the Truth Get in the way of a Good Story ) comes to mind when you have so called facts placed in front of you ?? I want to believe what people tell me is True. But using the thoughts above, can make it difficult to believe. Regardless of this. I see, 1 Guy doing something Good with his life. What part of it is Good ? The part when you do something in your Life that gives you a Reason to be Alive. I Always have the thought ?? When you are 5 minutes away from leaving this Life and you can look back at your Life and say you did something Good with it. Then you can say.. ..This Life Was Worth Living 👍
It’s sad that one Burt gave it to them they put it on the outside of their shop and forgot about it for 20 years now they’re trying to ride the limelight modern-day Indians sucked
Legend!!!
I couldn't even imagine Burt's neighbor in the morning what a alarm clock
So this isnt the speed record engine here but the backup engine ive been told. Burt never left the stroked engine in the frame when he wasnt with the bike. That engine always came home to New Zealand.
mans testicals 😁😡😡😡 this is not the same bike, the engine is not the original, do your research😡😡😡
why they did not turn it around for everyone to c
Foguete
Wow, sounds like top fuel!!! 😎
It does doesn't it.
That is narly!! Wow!!!
That is the original frame but not the correct engine. Either way it is totally ruined. Burts bikes were all hand made on a tight budget. It never looked that pristine or manufactured
Return it to its real owners!!!! That is sad, technically it is Burts family's bike, but someone in USA has it, its not the race engine Burt took that back to NZ, but he left the frame and a spare engine in USA to save shipping, now these people have it, how about returning it to its real owners????
Salute to Burt , the legend 🙌
Different bike, burt would always take his original 1920 Indian engine home to new Zealand, this is another of burts bikes with another motor not the one he did the record with.
A symphony of music worthy to be played to the "Gods of Speed", awesome. Burt would be smiling into his mug of metallic tasting tea.
Brilliant 👍
munro got alien friends
Un grande
that bike sounds nasty! u can hear the horsepower
A time Maschine with this Sound ♥️🏍
who spotted American Pickers?
Holy smock... That sound 🔥
For burt...
What kind of dweeb fires up Burt Munroes's bike and wears f*****g ear defenders? That's like listening to a Stardivarius with earlugs in!
Now go ride it
so sad that it was "restored", the spirit is gone...
You are absolutely correct they ruined it terrible jay leno should have got that he wouldn't have ruined it he's got respect he understands and he has the resources to make it right
Guys, that's a replica.
No, its the second Chassis which stayed on the US half of the streamline was replicated half original from what i understand....
Crap!
That's a REPLICA NOT Berts bike! Berts bike is in New Zealand!
Woohoohoooo!! That sounds incredible!
The original bike is in Invercargill New Zealand. This is only the original chassis he left behind in the US as he always shipped back the engines to New Zealand to save costs
It was sold with a mock-up engine, built by Burt with spare parts.
Incorrect
Thank yous for sharing... for us to be apart of history, what it sounded like, looked like and possibly what it felt like
It's ruined why did it get painted Burt would be spitting tacks
Whoever restored that should be sacked. Was a million dollar bike but its not Burts bike anymore. The history has been painted over. Total IDIOTS!

There is only one bike that went through the timing gates that set the record ,IF it's not the bike that went through then it's a copy of the original, one thing for sure that the original isn't a million pound bike cause if it ever went to auction then we would set a new record for the sale of a motorcycle by auction, there's a lot of bike lovers out there that are minted enough to make the final price to be a huge figure ,there's only one Indian scout rebuilt and modified by burt that set the record ,you'd probably expect it easy do double figure millions cause it's that highly prized by many who can afford to have it
Oh BABY WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO MEAN!!!
This is the Donald Trump of Burt's bike
Anyone knows what the type of the muffler?
No muffler had mega phone tail pipe.
I lived in San Francisco in the 1960's. I was an active racer myself back then. A friend called me up one night, and asked if I could put up someone over night that was on his way to Bonneville to race his motorcycle. He said, "Some day, you'll be glad you did." I said sure. Later, a cab dropped off this spry little old man at my front door, and he introduced himself as Burt Munro. The year, was 1968. He was coming back to Bonneville, through San Francisco to try and break his record he had set, the year before in 1967. My wife cooked us a killer roast beef dinner that night, and afterwards, we sat and listened to him talk about his career. My wife never liked racing, but was mesmerized just listening to him. He told us how he found an old pipe in a field that the Gas & Electric company had left there, and he made the cylinders for his motor. Then he said, he found a couple of old axles from the same area, and hand forged them into the connecting rods for his engine. The motor was a flat-head from the start, but Burt designed, and built his own rocker boxes, and components, and converted it into an over-head valve motor. He went on and on about things he had built by hand. I could only just sit there, with my mouth open, and listen. The next morning, I shook Burt's hand at my front door, and wished him good luck. And he left. I didn't realize who he was, until the movie came out several years ago. I feel fortunate, to have met him, and had him as a guest in my home. Mike Steinberg
Thank you Mr. Steinberg. As far as I'm concerned, this is, by far, the best reply to this video yet!
What an awesome story greetings from Invercargill
